The implementation of the Government of Sierra Leone’s flagship Free Quality Education Program relies on accurate data, state-of-the-art analytics and near real-time decision support tools across all levels.

This Data Hub currently connects the Annual School Census (Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, 2019) and the National Examination Results (West African Examination Council, 2016-2022). It serves as a tool to support decision making through an evidence-based and data-driven process for research, informed policy, planning and evaluation of interventions across 11 thousand schools and 2 million students in Sierra Leone.

My Role

Developed and managed a data processing, cleaning and analysis pipeline that powers the analytics on the hub. The task involved collecting data from disparate sources (ministries, departments, agencies, examinations and statistics institutions) and file types (csv, xlsx, sql etc), transform into a single format, apply cleaning and analysis functions and expose insight into csv file type and rest api.

This project analyzes the sentiment of video titles on Valuetainment’s YouTube channel to assess whether the content aligns with the mission of “enlightening, entertaining, and empowering current and future leaders around the world.” By categorizing video titles as positive, neutral, or negative and examining their interaction rates (likes and views), the analysis reveals that both positive and negative sentiments correlate positively with interaction, indicating that sentiment does not significantly affect video popularity. Additionally, the content is predominantly focused on education, business, and entertainment, suggesting that Valuetainment effectively aligns its content strategy with its mission

Ally 🤖 is an assistant that helps prospective students find the right funding opportunities 💵🛫🎓, increasing your chances of success. Ally can search the internet or our database of up to 1,000 scholarships to get the funding you need, provide admission and application guidance, or even point you to where to start.

Why did I build Ally? Frequently, I receive academic funding questions from in and outside my network from mostly aspiring graduate students. So, I decided to build Ally to enable more people to find the scholarship they need to pursue study abroad opportunities.
